The iconic ballet of the Sofia State Opera presents the ballet “ZORBAS THE GREEK” at LARNAKA’S FESTIVAL 2026.

Starring the Bolshoi’s first dancer, Igor Tsvirko and Oleg Ivenko, soloist of the Kazan Ballet.

Premiering to massive acclaim at the 1988 Arena di Verona, the celebrated ballet Zorba the Greek features a magnificent score by Mikis Theodorakis and brilliant choreography by Lorca Massine. Since then, the work has enjoyed enormous success worldwide, with hundreds of performances in many countries.

This year the iconic ballet takes place in Cyprus - at LARNAKA’S FESTIVAL 2026.

Based on the book by Nikos Kazantzakis and with the exceptional music of Mikis Theodorakis, Zorba the Greek is not just a ballet — it is a moving hymn to freedom, passion, resistance and the Greek spirit.
